The "Brothers In Arms" exhibit featuring typical Civil War gear and personal items of the common soldier will open May 7 through December 31, 2010 in the Fleming Center, located at Carnton Plantation.
The unprecedented exhibition explores the makings of the common soldier, a simple man, who was placed in an uncommon experience. The exhibition includes typical soldiers' gear such as rifles, sabers, uniform jackets, canteens, caps, and personal items. Each of the soldier's items come alive, depicting what the common solider looked like, what he wore, who fought beside him, and what he would have endured during battle.
More than 2.75 million men fought in the Civil War and guests will leave with the knowledge about what one man, on either side, tolerated.
