There are evenings when the stars align; the weather cooperates; creativity and talent overflow and for a short time, the world feels perfect. And so it was Saturday night, October 10 in Leiper's Fork for the 3x3 Art Show. How blessed are we to live in the midst of such artistic brilliance?
Leiper's Fork was aglow in twinkling lights as the sun began to set and the galleries were dressed to impress. Truthfully, they always impress, but Saturday night was over the top. Each gallery, with its unique style and personality, offered a glimpse into the soul of the featured artists - David Arms of the David Arms Gallery; Roger Dale Brown at Leiper's Creek Gallery and Christine Kosiba at The Copper Fox.
The courtyard beckoned everyone to sit a spell and listen to the sweet sound of singer/songwriter, Wiley Chandler. Wine and appetizers were available and the fire pits were aglow. S'mores kept everyone relaxing around the fire and seriously, who doesn't love a s'more?
David Arms featured not only his brilliant, peaceful paintings, but Saturday night he shared some of his photographic works shot in Africa. Personal and deep. The David Arms Gallery has evolved into a lifestyle destination where David's paintings are on display, but now he also gives us an opportunity to purchase the quality items that enhance his life- from books to handmade Grant Batson pipes.
If you need a boost of soulful inspiration, The David Arms Gallery is sure to light the way. Upon entering the front door, you can't help but slow down, take a deep breath and relish in the magic.
The Copper Fox features American artists in various mediums, from pottery, glass, textiles, wood, and terrariums. Christine Kosiba, who traveled from North Carolina, was Saturday's featured artist. Her sculptures rich with texture and life. She works intuitively and is intrigued and fascinated by our natural world. Christine believes that "our connection to the earth is imperative to to our emotional and physical well-being," and it shows in every piece she does. If you're looking for a unique gift or treasure for your home, The Cooper Fox is the perfect destination. I'm enthralled with the terrariums.
Just a short stroll up the street is the Leiper's Creek Gallery owned by shining light, Lisa Fox. This is one of the finest galleries in Middle Tennessee and the caliber of featured art is perfection. Roger Dale Brown was the featured artist and the great news is that you can always find his fine art on display at the gallery. A Nashville native, Roger is an avid painter and traveler and his work truly takes my breath away.
He believes that "plein air" painting is an essential element to being a great artist. "Plein air" is a French expression which means "in the open air" and you will feel like you're in the field or on the river or in the meadow when you stand in front of Roger's paintings. Watch how the painting changes as you move closer.
The 3x3 Art Show takes place in the fall and spring and if you missed this one, plan to go in the spring. But don't wait to take in the art that awaits you at each of these galleries.
Take a drive this fall and treat yourself to the beauty and artistic talent that awaits you.
