100 Irresistible Things Inviting You to Franklin in 2019
2019 is here and we’re gearing up for another fantastic year full of family-friendly events and tempting excuses inviting you to explore and see for yourself what continues to make Franklin, Tennessee and Williamson County the best vacation spot in the south. The team here at Visit Franklin curated a list of some of our most favorite things lined up this new year just for you. There’s clearly no way you can experience them all in a single visit (hint hint), but if you’re looking for a new challenge, tell us how many you can knock off the list when you come to see us in the Visitor Center during your stay.
1. The New Kid on the Block
Check out the newest kid on the block in downtown Franklin when The Harpeth, a Curio by Hilton hotel, featuring a luxury spa, multiple restaurants, and bars opens in spring of 2019 (late July to be exact).
2. Sip the Masters & Makers Trail
Take a trip along the Masters & Makers Trail for some of the finest whiskey, beer, and wine you’ll find!
3. Hike through a tunnel in Brentwood
Take a hike in Brentwood and snap the perfect picture of a sunset through the tunnel along the walking path at Crockett Park.

5. Experience the Lawn Chair Theater
Catch a family-friendly movie on Friday nights at the Lawn Chair Theater in Leiper’s Fork.
6. Beer Festivals
Sip the flavors of the areas top brews during BrewFest along Franklin’s Main Street on St. Patrick’s Day.
7. Take Me Out to the [Vintage] Ballgame
Catch a ballgame, 1860’s style, as the Tennessee Vintage Base Ball’s Franklin Farriers play a home schedule on the grounds of Carnton.
8. Eat 100 Layers of Donut
Dive into 100 layers of sweet, doughy, goodness with one of Five Daughters Bakery’s famed 100-layer donuts.
9. Take the Two Lane
Roll the windows down and turn up the tunes for a drive along the Natchez Trace Parkway.
10. Try all the barbecue
There is no shortage of BBQ in Franklin, including the original home of Martin’s BBQ Joint. Make 2019 the year you try them all!

The new 231 Public Square and it’s amazing rooftop views open in spring 2019, sip on a cocktail or enjoy a dinner overlooking downtown Franklin.
12. Canoe the Harpeth
Spend a lazy day floating down the Harpeth River and let Paddle Dog Adventures take care of all the logistics.
13. American Girl
Make your little girl’s dreams come true with a trip to the American Girl doll store inside the CoolSprings Galleria.
14. Ride to Leiper’s Fork
Take a 30-mile round trip ride through the back roads on a Pedigo Electric Bike from Franklin to Leiper’s Fork and back.
15. Main Street Festival
The 36th annual Main Street Festival will welcome almost 100,000 guests to Franklin’s iconic Main Street, April 27-28
16. Crawl Through the Arts
Experience the Franklin Art Crawl the first Friday of each month.
17. See Wonder Woman
Lynda Carter – TV’s iconic Wonder Woman – takes the stage at the Franklin Theater, May 4.
18. Town of Nolensville
Spend a day shopping the antique shops and dining in the newest restaurants around Nolensville’s growing town square.

Find one of the many scenic trails throughout Franklin and get lost in nature’s wonder. (not actually lost, all the trails are well marked!)

23. Leiper’s Fork Farmer’s Market
Not your average farmer’s market, the Leiper’s Fork Farmer’s Market is known for its family-friendly atmosphere, kid games, and unique blend of fun and fresh food shopping the first Thursday of May – October.
24. Technicolor Dreamcoat
Watch Studio Tenn’s production of ‘Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat’ inside Jamison Theater at The Factory at Franklin, May 17 – June 2.
25. Day of family fun at Soar Adventure Tower
Get ready to climb into the harnesses and have a ton of fun testing your limits all while seeing Franklin from above.
26. Tacos. Tacos. Tacos.
There’s never a bad time for tacos, right? Whether it’s Mojo’s, Pueblo Real, Oscar’s, Garcias or Uncle Julio’s, there are tons of great spots all over Williamson County to grab a taco or two.
27. Treat Yo Self (and Mom) with a Day at the Spa
There are easily 10 great day spas around Franklin perfect for a day of treating you and those you love most.
28. Tennessee Renaissance Festival
Every weekend in May makes a great time to explore the Tennessee Renaissance Festival located just outside Franklin.
29. Franklin Rodeo
The Franklin Rodeo is the longest running annual event in Franklin and returns in 2019 on May 16-18 at the Williamson County Ag Expo.
30. Music and Breakfast Food Festival? Yes, please!
What a fun combination right? We think so! Grab your tickets early because this event sold out last year. In its second year, BreakFEST will feature nine punk rock/alternative music acts including New Found Glory, Real Friends, plus many of Franklin’s most popular breakfast food vendors.
31. Eat the Street Food Truck Festival
Eat the Street is Franklin’s first food truck-themed food festival and will no doubt fill your belly and raise your spirits with over 30 of the best local Food trucks.
32. Mix muskets and music at Carnton’s Sunset Concert Series
Listen to some of the area’s most talented musicians on the lawn outside Carnton. As the music serenades the evening air, explore the historic gardens and battlefield area around Carnton that witnessed the Civil War’s Battle of Franklin.
33. Catch the Sport of Kings
Polo matches at the historic Harlinsdale Farm make for a fun evening out and help support the farm too.
34. Great Slider Showdown
Made South has a reputation for putting on some of the best events in the county and this one was a smash last year. You don’t want to miss this one, June 1, inside Liberty Hall at the Factory at Franklin.
35. Make new friends at Porchfest
Porchfest is a music and arts festival unlike any other inside the Westhaven community in West Franklin. With over 75 performers playing on front porches, you’ll love meeting new friends and running into old friends throughout the day-long event, October 8.
36. Celebrate National Fried Chicken Day
Two words for you on how to celebrate July 6: Big Shakes. Take our word for it and add it to your list regardless of the day of the week.
37. Enjoy a night of music at the Eddy Arnold Amphitheater
What’s better than a night out under the stars listening to some great music? The May-August outdoor concert series in Brentwood makes the perfect date night for a summer night in 2019.
38. Step back in time at the County Archives
The Williamson County Archives & Museum makes for a fantastic stroll back through time exploring fun Franklin artifacts and learning more about the rich history here in Williamson County.
39. Strum on a legendary guitar in the Serenite Maison pickin’ corner
Find your way to Leiper’s Fork and wander into Serenite Maison for a musicians dream. Hanging on the wall are priceless guitars, mandolins, banjos, and more that should probably be in a museum. Instead, they are hanging there waiting for you to strum.
40. Franklin on the Fourth
Each year, on the Fourth of July, the Franklin Lions Club presents Franklin on the Fourth. Make plans to join us this year!
41. Browse Through a Toy Wonderland
Take the kids – or just go feel like a kid again – browsing the toys for kids of all ages inside the Nolensville Toy Shop that’s tucked into a historic home.
42. Bluegrass Along the Harpeth
If you’re planning a visit towards the end of July then this event, July 26-27, in the town square will be a great evening for the whole family.
43. Take in the view from Winstead Hill
This park is 61 acres and includes a 3/4 miles walking trail and includes some of the most scenic and sweeping views of the county. Take it all in and notice the steeples, thinking back to what it must’ve felt like 150 years ago.
44. Williamson County Fair
Who doesn’t love a county fair? Ours is recognized among the best anywhere by its peers at the state and international levels winning awards in years past and is the perfect way to kick off August in 2019.
45. New Carter House Visitor Center
Explore the new visitor center and expanded museum at Carter House that opens in the summer.
46. Southern Whiskey Society
This Made South event has quickly become one of the most anticipated whiskey and bourbon events in the country for enthusiasts. Sip your way through the best brown water in the nation August 3, at the Factory at Franklin.
47. Great Americana BBQ Festival
The name says it all. This event at Harlinsdale Farm put on by the Franklin Noon Rotary is perfect for the whole family.
48. Practice that disc-golf game
There are several parks around the county featuring a disc-golf course. We suggest starting at Crockett Park in Brentwood first.
49. Feed the Ducks at Bowie
Bowie Nature Part boasts an incredible 700 acres of forest and 17 miles of trails for you to enjoy and explore but bring something to feed the ducks.
50. Run in the Franklin Classic
The Franklin Classic benefitting Mercy Community Healthcare is one of Franklin best races supporting one of our best local nonprofits. Bring your friends for a Labor Day 10k/5k/1k and make it a weekend to enjoy together.
51. Peep leaves on the Natchez Trace Parkway
There’s no better time to hit the road than during the fall! The Natchez Trace Parkway offers 444-miles of leaf peeping!
52. Pick Pumpkins at The Gentry Farm
Enjoy a fall day of pumpkin-picking with the entire family!
53. Dance like everyone’s watching at Pilgrimage Music & Cultural Festival

54. Dress up for Pumpkinfest
Bring the kids, bring the dog, the entire family can dress up and enjoy Halloween at Pumpkinfest in downtown Franklin, Oct. 26.
55. Toast marshmallows in Leiper’s Fork

67. Tour all three civil war homes in honor of the anniversary of the Battle of Franklin
The Battle of Franklin took place on November 30, 1864. You can hear the story of the battle by touring Carnton, Carter House, and Lotz House.
