Saturday evening, August 5, the first-ever gathering of the Southern Whiskey Society will take place at Liberty Hall inside The Factory. You don’t have to pay monthly dues and carry a card in your wallet to be a member. All you have to do is enjoy great food & whiskey. And buy a ticket and show up of course.

Here are three reasons why the Southern Whiskey Society event is going to be awesome.
The Food.
With the Southern Whiskey Society event, we wanted to bring together a group of talented chefs from all over the Southeast to create a unique food experience that you just can’t get anywhere else. We’ve worked closely with our culinary partners, Eat Y’all, to curate a group of chefs that are each bringing their unique creativity and flavor to the event.
The talent assembled for this event is insane. It’s rumored that Jeremiah Bacon, a five-time James Beard nominee from The Macintosh in Charleston, South Carolina, is working on a bourbon-glazed beef belly dish. Jean-Paul Bourgeois, from the acclaimed restaurant Blue Smoke in New York City, is bringing with him a Boudin the likes of which we’ve never tasted.
Also joining us at Southern Whiskey Society are Annie Pettry of Decca in Louisville, Ky., Cole Ellis of Delta Meat Market in Cleveland, Miss., and David Bancroft of ACRE in Auburn, Ala. Rounding out the world-class chef lineup is Jesse Morris of KillerChefs in Richardson, Texas, Kelly Fields of Willa Jean in New Orleans, La., Matt Bolus of 404 Kitchen in Nashville, Tenn., and Scott Serpas of Serpas True Food in Atlanta, Ga.
The Whiskey.
The whiskey brands who will be pouring their spirits at the Southern Whiskey Society event are some of the best in the business. Legendary brands like Wild Turkey, Four Roses, Buffalo Trace and Heaven Hill will be in attendance.
We also wanted to highlight some of the smaller producers who are doing fun, experimental things in the whiskey world. Folks like 13th Colony from Americus, Ga., High Wire Distilling from Charleston, S.C., John Emerald Distilling Co. from Opelika, Ala., Six & Twenty from Piedmont, S.C., and Rabbit Hole Distilling from Louisville, Ky.
Our friends, and Masters & Makers Trail members, H Clark Distillery and Leiper’s Fork Distillery, will also be participating.
One of the things I’m quite excited about is that the Southern Whiskey Society event will also serve as the public debut of Kentucky Owl Batch Seven. From Harrodsburg, Ky., Kentucky Owl is a highly limited release that will only be poured during the VIP hour from 5-6 p.m. Kentucky Owl proprietor, Dixon Dedman, will be on-hand to witness the smile on your face when he pours you a sample of his delicious bourbon.
The People.
I believe that something magical happens when you combine great food, great whiskey, and great people. And frankly, the people are the most important part of this equation. Without the creativity of the chefs and distillers, none of this deliciousness would exist for us to enjoy.
We’ve also invited some other fun brands to help make this event a great experience for our guests. Good folks like:
- Our presenting partner, Peter Nappi, who are creating a fun lounge for the event and giving away a pair of their beautiful Italian-made boots.
- Our official cigar partner Battleground South Cigar Lounge is creating an outdoor smoking lounge for all you cigar fanatics
- Kentucky for Kentucky who will be on hand with their fun bourbon gear.
- Colin O’Reilly from Terrane Glass Designs will be displaying his gorgeous handmade decanters.
- Honest Coffee will be hosting a pour-over coffee station
- The PodCask, who shared How To Bourbon Your Way Through Franklin, will be recording LIVE.
- Blue Delta Jean Co. will be conducting fittings for their custom, Mississippi-made jeans.
- TESLA will be on-site with their 0-60 TESLA Launch experience for guests of the event
Great food + great whiskey + great people = magic. I believe that with all my heart. And that’s exactly why we’ve created the Southern Whiskey Society event. I hope you join us.
