Brewed for You: Experience the Best Craft Adventures in Franklin

Franklin may be located at the heart of the Tennessee Whiskey Trail, but that’s not the only libation known to make people tip back a glass around here. The beer scene is one not to be missed and has a little something unique to offer every beer lover – or possibly even convert those non-hops lovers.

Once you’ve been on one brewery tour, you’ve pretty much seen them all right? That couldn’t be any further from the truth and the minute you walk into Mill Creek Brewing Company you see exactly why.

When you step foot inside Mill Creek’s brewery and taproom, the first thing you’ll think is “Wow, this place is huge.” It is, like 27,500 square feet big! The taproom is only separated from their brewing operations by the massive vats brewing the goods, and coolers chilling the finished goods. So you can see your brews coming to life right in front of your eyes. As you settle in for a tasting of their mainstays like Lil Darlin, 615, or Woodshed you are sure to be tempted by their seasonal collections too. Don’t be surprised if you hear quite a bit of soccer talk at the bar; Mill Creek is the official craft brewery of the Nashville Soccer Club.

McCreary's Pub in Franklin, Tennessee

There is just something special about having a pint inside a good pub. It’s like the atmosphere just makes every beer taste that much better. In the heart of downtown Franklin on Main Street, you’ll find McCreary’s Irish Pub. Naturally, McCreary’s is famous for its three-pour Guinness Imperial Pints and puts you in an entirely jovial mood with live music and of course incredible dishes for both the Irish and Irish-American taste buds.

Puckett's Boathouse in Franklin, Tennessee

There really is nothing like kicking back with great friends on a patio with a few great beers. That’s really where the best plans are concocted or the most significant world problems are solved, right? Frothy Monkey is home to one of the best patios in Franklin, by far. It sits just off the historic Main Street that runs through the heart of town, so the people watching is pretty spectacular too! But isn’t Frothy Monkey a coffee shop? Yes, that is true that it’s a coffee shop but so much more as well. Along with incredible coffee drinks, they also have a vast menu and incredible selection of both craft beers and wines too.

If your preference is to be near the water whenever possible? Do you love to hear the gentle lapping of water running by as you hang on the patio? [raises hand] Then Puckett’s Boathouse is your spot. Their incredible selection of local craft brews, along with the national and regional crafts you love as well, is only bested by the views and sounds from their patio and outdoor terrace. As a bonus, if you are a cigar lover, their on-site selection is the best in downtown Franklin!

Brewfest is a beer festival in Downtown Franklin, TN this St. Patrick's Day.

The biggest beer event of the year in Franklin, naturally, is held in conjunction with St. Patrick’s Day. Around everyone’s favorite green-clad, beer sipping day of the year Franklin’s Main Street converts into a beer lovers paradise for Main Street Brewfest. With over 30 beer sampling stations (all with several brews to choose from) you can take a hop-filled tour around the world while also enjoying incredible local music and flavors.

Of course, any stop in Franklin must include a little music. Listening to it with a fun local brew in hand is one level of fun, but if you find yourself out at Puckett’s of Leiper’s Fork on their famed Thursday Open Mic Night, you won’t have to look far for that splash of liquid courage before stepping up for your big break. Some world-class acts have found their way onto that stage on open mic night, but usually not before a stop at the end of the bar for a sampling of the local brews!
