Spread the Love: 4 Ways To Tell Dad He Matters!
For you parents out there, you know that newfound feeling of appreciation you have for your own parents after you become a parent yourself? Especially for the often unsung hero of the family, Dad. Father’s Day is the perfect time to celebrate those dads in our lives who we don’t celebrate often enough. I mean, between the dad jokes, dad-approved tennis shoes with tall socks (you know what I’m talking about), and dad moves (you’ve seen them at [insert cousin’s name] wedding), what is there not to celebrate?!
No Father’s Day plans yet? Better hop to it, you’ve got about a week to go! If you need some help, check out our suggested list of Father’s Day weekend activities around Franklin, Tennessee.
Sip & Savor at the Station
Grab the dad in your life and head out to Sip & Savor in Thompson’s Station on Saturday, June 16 at 7 p.m., where you’ll get a taste of the area from local restaurants, brewers and distillers. Have dad show off those moves while dancing to Groove Addiction there as well. You can purchase individual tickets or a couples’ ticket.
If you haven’t checked out Porchfest in the Westhaven community, Father’s Day weekend is the perfect time to do so. Also taking place on Saturday, June 16, this unique music and art festival showcases 75 performers playing on front porches throughout the neighborhood from 3 to 7 p.m., followed by a concert by the lake. Dad will love the food trucks, and be sure to take him by the makers village (you can let him pick out his own Father’s Day gift!)
Comedian Henry Cho at the Franklin Theatre
If laughing with the dad in your life is your thing (and why would it not be?) check out Henry Cho at the Franklin Theatre on June 16 at either 4 or 8 p.m. Henry’s one-hour comedy special “What’s That Clickin Noise?” will have you ROTFLWD. Don’t know that one? (Rolling on the floor laughing with Dad, come on people.)
Masters and Makers Trail
If drinking with the dad in your life is your thing (and why would it not be?) hit up the Masters & Makers trail, taking a day around Williamson County to explore our distilleries, breweries and winery. Enjoy a tour at each stop and sample the best wine, beer and spirits our town has to offer. Oh, and if you hit four out of the five spots, get your passport stamped and bring it in to the Visitor Center for a free Masters and Makers t-shirt!
If a little competition is Dad’s thing, set a tee-time or check out the driving range at The Crossing golf course, which features scenic views of the Harpeth River. Or- try your hand at climbing at the Crag with a single-day pass. If your dad is like mine, food is his love language. After a fun day together, I’d suggest burgers at Burger Up, barbecue at Puckett’s, or tacos at Mojo’s Tacos in the Factory.
Finally, if you need a last-minute gift for dad, watch the video below, featuring Narrow-Gate Trading Co., and check out a few of their beautiful leather and wood artisan pieces at the Visitor Center or in our online store.
Happy Father’s Day, Dads!
