How to Make the Most of Main Street Festival
Spring is riding in on a warm breeze here in downtown Franklin, Tennessee as preparations for the Heritage Foundation of Williamson County, Tennessee’s 36th Annual Main Street Festival, Presented by First Tennessee Bank are coming together for the city’s largest annual celebration of America’s favorite Main Street.
The festival is a two-day street fair featuring 200-plus arts and craft booths, live music, food vendors, kids’ activities, and more all set on the backdrop of Franklin’s historic “Great American Main Street” district. If you haven’t been to the Main Street Festival before, or even if you have, here is a list of things to know for this year!
Park & Ride
More than 100,000 guests from all over the region and country attend Main Street Festival, so finding close parking can be a challenge. Thankfully, the festival partners with Franklin Transit Authority to provide shuttle service to and from the festival both days. Park & Ride is available from The Park at Harlinsdale Farm, Saturday and Sunday, as well as from Church of the City, Saturday only. Shuttle rides are $1 per person each way. If you are staying at one of the many Franklin hotels, several of them also offer free shuttles to downtown.
Main Street Festival Mobile App
New in 2019 is a mobile app to help you make the most of your weekend at Main Street Festival! In the app, you'll find schedules for all stage performances, a listing of craft vendors, a map of attractions, and a fun photo scavenger hunt game. You'll want to download the app for iPhone or Android here and start planning out your day now!
Live Music All Day
More than 20 artists will be performing from two different stages throughout the festival weekend. If music is your thing, you will be all set for two days of fun and you definitely will not want to miss headlining performances from Sweet Tea Trio Saturday night and Dawn Beyer Sunday afternoon. There is also covered seating for the main stage performances; so rain or shine, you can see an amazing show!
Pets Are Welcome
Your furry companions are welcome at the festival and in downtown Franklin year round. One of the new features of the festival in 2019 is the Bark Lounge, sponsored by MARS Petcare. This pet zone will feature a pet comfort station with a shady place to rest and rehydrate. You’ll also find adoptable pets and a pet photo booth.
Downtown Shops Are Open
If shopping is your thing, you’ll find your fill on festival weekend. As you are perusing the wares of all the festival craft vendors, make your way into the shops up and down Main Street and throughout the whole historic district. These businesses invest in the economic vitality of Franklin and ensure the town and its heritage continue to thrive over the years.
For 36 years, Main Street Festival has been an important part of Franklin’s downtown revitalization and the mission of the Heritage Foundation to save places that matter, and in the process become one of the most charming festivals in the southeast.
