July in Franklin has a little something for EVERYONE!
You’ve probably noticed by now that summer is here (you have my full permission to cheer out loud), and the heat is on! The July sun does more than bake our skin – it also reminds us that it’s time to celebrate the birth of this great nation that you and I call “home.” However you and your family choose to wish America a happy birthday, Williamson County has some fantastic events to help you out. There’s good food, good drink, and, of course, fireworks! Here are a few I think you’ll enjoy.
Community Band Patriotic Concert
The sounds of Americana will be booming during this free concert! What better way to kick off your Fourth of July festivities than with this fun evening full of classic patriotic songs performed by The Community Band and the Belles of Franklin.
Fourth of July in Franklin
Franklin, Tennessee knows how to throw a party! Especially when it is a celebration of the USA. If you’ve been to any of the unbelievable events downtown, you know what to expect at Franklin on the Fourth – live music, craft vendors, delicious food and more! There will be classic cars on display, fun activities for children, and even a kid’s parade.
If you’re looking for even more of that “Franklin goodness” this Independence Day, you don’t need to look any further than Fourth of July with Friends of Franklin Parks. Head out to the Park at Harlinsdale Farm and get your fill of burgers, dogs and corn dogs (provided by Sonic), live music, and various activities for children (including old fashioned games, a craft tent, Padrinos Pops, and Bluegrass Kettle Masters). Then, to cap off the evening – yep, you guessed it – the familiar crackle and boom of a dazzling fireworks display!
See? I told you Franklin knows how to throw a party.
National Fried Chicken Day
Don’t tell your cardiologist, but July 6 is National Fried Chicken Day. And fortunately, you are in the south, where there is certainly no shortage of places to get your hands on some (hands that you will probably need to wipe off with a good, sturdy napkin afterward… but hey, that’s the cost of indulging in deliciousness). Some fantastic local spots to grab a piece or two (or three) include Big Shake’s, Puckett’s, 55 South, Country Boy, and Bishop’s Meat & Three.
The Clean Comedy Challenge
A troupe of hilarious comedians will be bringing the laughs to Franklin this month as part of the Clean Comedy Challenge. This stand-up comedy contest started nine years ago with the vision of spreading family-friendly comedy and has become so successful that it has spread to multiple cities. Bring out the kids and come ready to laugh!
Summertime at Lucky Ladd Farms
Boasting “acres of entertainment for all ages,” Lucky Ladd Farms is one of the top spots to go with family or friends for a day of outdoor excitement! Midway through the month, the farm will be honoring our local heroes by offering FREE general admission to Tennessee firemen, sheriffs and policemen, active/retired military, teachers, nurses, doctors, and their immediate families as part of their Community Heroes Celebration. Then, later in the month, help your kids soak up the last glorious moments of summer before heading back to school, by taking them to the Splash Bash – a “Back to School” bonanza featuring inflatable water slides, a splash pad, a bubble blast pool, water balloon tosses and plenty of other outdoor activities. There’s loads of fun to be had at Lucky Ladd this summer season!
Cool Off With Tantalizing Frozen Treats
Boy, is it getting warm out there! As we head into one of the hottest parts of the year, there is one thing that is sure to cool you off (and put a smile on your face), and that is the bevy of delicious frozen goodies found all over Williamson County! Whether you prefer a scoop of your favorite flavor of ice cream from Kilwin’s, a mouth-watering frozen custard treat from Whitt’s in Berry Farms, or a hand-spun milkshake from The Grilled Cheeserie (one of our most recent additions to Main Street), there are plenty of places to get your flavorful fix.
