Love Movies In The Park? Try These 5 This Summer

Summertime means outdoor fun and summer blockbusters! Luckily Franklin has some of the best places to catch a movie under the stars where you can combine the two for an unforgettable night of fun with some of your favorite people.

Don’t miss out on catching a movie at these five spots!

1. Movie Night at Carnton Plantation

Grab a blanket, a picnic basket and settle in at sundown for a movie under the stars on the historic grounds of Carnton Plantation. See summer classics like Night at the Museum, Sahara, and Field of Dreams. Admission is just $5, and if you’re not in the mood to pack a picnic, there’s always concessions!

If you’ve not been before, come early and stay late to explore the gardens and property around Carnton Plantation.

2. Pull up a seat at the ‘Lawnchair Theatre’ in Leiper’s Fork

Every Friday and Saturday night this summer, the Lawnchair Theatre is the place to be. This cool, little spot of outdoor heaven is located in the heart of Leiper’s Fork - look for it behind Leiper’s Creek Gallery. It’s free and you’ll want to bring the family, bring a blanket or lawn chair, and enjoy the concessions or bring your own eats!

Movies range from favorites like Wizard of Oz, Pan and Cinderella, to the entire Star Wars series.

3. Take the kids, or be a kid again yourself, at Franklin Movies in the Park

The city of Franklin hosts free Movies in the Park at Pinkerton Park this summer. Show up with your lawnchair or blanket and don’t worry about dinner, you can pick up a Jet’s Pizza onsite. You can also keep it cool with a snow cone (or two) from Kona Ice!

4. Take in the Movies by Moonlight in Nolensville

Friday nights in July mean Movies by Moonlight in Nolensville. Make it a date night or a family night, we don’t care who you bring, just show up. Plenty of popcorn and atmosphere, just remember to bring a chair! See classics like Cars and Captain America, before saying goodbye to summer with Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

5. Forget the heat and relax inside the Franklin Theatre

If the heat’s got you beat, go for the classic movie experience at the historic Franklin Theatre. One of the crown jewels of America’s Favorite Main Street, the Franklin Theatre shows movie favorites while the concessions serve up the traditional sweet and savory treats and the not-so-traditional adult beverages.
