11 ways to enjoy the great outdoors in #FranklinTN!

Winter, it's been real. I can't say it's been fun. If you're like me, come April I'm itching to get out of the house and feel the sun on my face. It might have a little something to do with the fact that being trapped inside with two little ones for a few months ain't easy.

Now that we are springing into warmer weather (see what I did there?) let's put away those hoodies and get outside! I've compiled a list of my favorite outdoor activities in Franklin, Tennessee and around Williamson County.

Pedego Electric Bikes

If tours and outdoor exercise are your things, check out Pedego. You can choose from six different tours that range from adventurous to leisurely and check out all that our area has to offer. These aren't ordinary bikes, though... their electric bikes give you a boost along the way.  I am all about some rigorous outdoor exercise, but some days, I need a little push.

Puckett's of Leiper's Fork has a great outdoor area for warmer weather days in Franklin, TN

Area Patios

If your version of outdoor adventure is eating and drinking al fresco, you're speaking my language, and we've got the perfect patio for that. Enjoy a glass of wine on the porch at JJ's Wine Bar, fill up on Southern comfort food on the patio at Puckett's in Leiper's Fork, or indulge your Mexican craving on the patio at Uncle Julio's in Brentwood. Check out the outdoor area at King's Bowl for some fun outdoor games like cornhole, Jenga, and an oversized Connect Four.

Carnton is a antebellum style home in Franklin, TN that saw that Battle of Franklin. It is now open for Civil War tours.

Extended Tour at Carnton

History-lovers can enjoy a 90-minute tour of the Carnton house and grounds. You'll get insight into the Battle of Franklin, the McGavock Family, and the history of slavery at Carnton and in Tennessee. I love to take some time to enjoy the beauty of the gardens at Carnton or relax in a rocking chair on the front porch on a beautiful day.

Local Parks

My favorite (free) activity to do around town when the weather turns is to visit our local parks. Take the kids to play at Pinkerton, go for a run at Bowie Nature Park or enjoy Free Hike Day on April 28 at Owl's Hill Nature Sanctuary.

Arrington Vineyards is a winery in near Franklin, TN that has beautiful outdoor spaces.

Arrington Vineyards

There's no better outdoor spot than Arrington on a lovely Spring day. Spread out a blanket, bring a picnic and sip on a glass of wine while enjoying the sunset. It makes for the perfect day date or date night.

Franklin Farmer's Market

Saturday mornings are for meandering through the Franklin Farmer's Market at the Factory. Grab some fresh veggies and flowers, and check out their Strawberry Festival next month.

From full service hotels to unique bed & breakfasts, you can find the perfect lodging in Franklin, Tennessee

Antique shopping in Nolensville

Give your home a little spring decor refresh and pick up some antiques at the shops in Nolensville. Pro-tip: check out Nolensville's new bridge that connects to Mill Creek Trail while you're in the area.

SOAR Adventure Tower

If you're looking for a little adventure, bring the family and your friends for a day at SOAR Adventure Tower. Choose from four levels of 110 climbing elements on their tower, and then be sure to stick around and beat your significant other in a round of mini-golf.

Hot Air Balloons take to the sky at Franklin's Hot Air Balloon Festival in Franklin, Tn

Middle Tennessee Hot Air Adventures

It's officially "flying season" as of April! Enjoy a sunrise or sunset hot air balloon ride, check out the rolling hills below and enjoy a champagne toast after landing. Totally casual. Just riding 1,000 feet high in a huge colorful balloon. No big deal.

Main Street Festival is an arts and crafts festival in downtown Franklin, Tennessee.

Main Street Festival

Franklin's Main Street Festival is an outdoor spring celebration that brings music, arts and crafts, food, and children's activities to downtown Franklin April 28-29. Do. Not. Miss. This.

Nolensville Buttercup Festival

The annual historic Nolensville Buttercup Festival on April 14 is also not to be missed. This spring event offers food, games and art vendors dotted along Nolensville's historic district.
