Anyone who knows me knows that when I'm not behind my computer, I've usually got my nose behind a book. And when I don't have my nose behind a book, I'm exploring bookstores near and far. In fact, when I plan a vacation, the first thing I do is find all the independent bookstores in the area and plot them on a map!
From the history and layers of dust in an old bookstore to the crisp, clean organization of a more modern storefront, I find myself at home when I'm surrounded by well-written stories.
In Franklin, we've got the Barnes and Nobles and the Books-a-Millions, but did you know we have some excellent independent booksellers as well? Pull up a chair and get cozy - I'm taking you on a tour of two of my favorite bookstores in #FranklinTN!
The Landmark Booksellers building isn't the only thing historic about this store. Housed in an old Factory Store, Landmark Booksellers is making history as I write this! The book store has been known to inspire novelists like Karen Kingsbury to write best-selling books like The Bridge. Lots of local authors haunt the halls of Landmark! It's not unusual to happen upon a New York Times Best Selling Author (Robert Hicks, author of Widow of the South, for example) perusing the shelves at Landmark.
If you're looking for a place to kick back and relax after a long day on Franklin's Great American Main Street, look no further than Landmark. Owner Joel Tomlin is sure to greet you at the door and ask you what you're looking for. Whether you're looking for a rare edition classic, information about a local author, or you're just looking for a place to rest your feet for a minute, Joel will have an answer for you.
Bound Booksellers is the newest bookstore in Franklin, Tennessee. Located in the Westhaven Town Center, Bound is a hidden gem! Having designed a store with clean and modern decor, owner Kelly Gore has put an emphasis on the beauty of books. Bound has become a gathering place for the Westhaven Community. It's not unusual to stumble upon a group of locals sipping coffee around a table, talking about their latest reads.
Now if you're a serial hobbyist like me, be sure to check out the variety of books about design, drawing, architecture, cooking, canning, and sewing. Bound is also known for having a great selection of children's books - and don't miss your chance to sign their chalkboard wall to leave your mark!
