July 3: National Stay Out of the Sun Day
Who knew? Seems like a perfect time to head to The Factory. If you’re there in the morning, grab an acai bowl at Franklin Juice Co. (Bombom bowl and add peanut butter!) or for lunch try the new Mojo’s Tacos. YUM. I may or may not have eaten there twice in one week. You can also stay out of the sun by painting at Third Coast Clay before or after your Jeni’s Ice Cream treat!
Franklin on the Fourth
Each year, on the July 4, the Franklin Lions Club presents Franklin on the Fourth. It is a celebration of the freedom we have enjoyed since the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Afterward, don’t miss the fireworks and family-friendly fun at Harlinsdale.
July 6: National Fried Chicken Day
Two words: Big Shakes. You don’t need to go far for delicious hot chicken!
Art Scene
Every first Friday of the month, downtown Franklin is bustling with people walking around from 6-9 p.m., visiting many of our shops and antique stores featuring local artists of all types. It’s also where you can always find me once a month.

July 13: National French Fry Day
Order the Ultimate Indulgence from Ground Restaurant. Hand cut fries topped with melted cheddar cheese, chili, lettuce, tomatoes, jalapenos, onions and sour cream. You’re welcome. (Also, word on the street is they’re opening a new location in West Franklin!)
July 14: National Mac and Cheese Day
Quinn’s Neighborhood Pub. Spicy Bird Mac N’ Cheese: Buffalo chicken with blue cheese crumbles drizzled with Franks Red Hot atop our three-cheese mac.
Any Saturday
Franklin Farmers Market! It’s where the locals are selling and buying all while listening to some live music in the picnic table area. There are also several more around the county to enjoy!
July 11: National Heather Doleshel’s Birthday
Ok so it’s not a national holiday, but it should be. Check out my blog from last year on how to celebrate your birthday around town!
July 15: National Give Something Away Day
I love this one, and I had no idea it existed! Sky’s the limit and if you do something special, leave a comment and let us know what it is/was! I personally love the “pay for the person behind you in the Starbucks line” random act of kindness. My kids especially love looking at the stranger’s reaction through the back window when we pull forward!
July 15: National Ice Cream Day
After you have given something away, treat yo’ self! So many options from Kilwins to Jeni’s Ice Cream and if you’re lucky enough to spot Bradley’s Ice Cream truck, run, don’t walk. Oh and there’s also this tasty preview of a few of the spots to enjoy around Franklin.
Rodeo + Juliet: Listen to Tennessee at the Franklin Theatre
Your Franklin hosts Chris,and Jan Harris (aka Rodeo and Juliet) have spent the past 40 years producing, singing, touring, and writing with a wide array of artists – Stevie Ray Vaughn, Loretta Lynn, Amy Grant, Kristin Chenoweth, Michael W. Smith, and CeCe Winans just to name a few. Join them with their guests and their band for this special summer show highlighting the HUGE HIT songs that came from Memphis, Nashville & the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee. So, all you Dear Hearts and Gentle People, mark your calendars and join Rodeo & Juliet this summer for free air conditioning, lots of popcorn, cold beer and HOT HITS on Sunday, July 15! July 22: National Hammock Day
Grab your hammock and head up to Ft. Granger. You have beautiful views of the Harpeth River and Williamson County plus you can also learn about the Battle of Franklin by reading historic markers placed around the grounds.
Trivia Thursday at Millcreek Brewery in Nolensville.
Join Mill Creek Brewing Co. in bringing the neighborhood and families together every Thursday night for trivia in the taproom! Grab your family and friends and show off your years of retaining random facts. Test your knowledge and share some laughs and sights (“I knew that one!”) in a family and pet-friendly environment.
July 24: National Tequila Day
We feel like the post we featured back in May last year is the best way to celebrate National Tequila Day. (Hint, Margarita fans are going to LOVE this)
July 25: National Hot Fudge Sundae Day
“Andy’s makes it fun to be a kid for awhile” is the Andy’s Frozen Custard slogan. What’s better than ice cream? Frozen custard ice cream and we’ve been singing their praises since we first tried them not too long ago. Check them out, it might be your first visit but certainly won’t be your last!
Bluegrass Along the Harpeth.
The festival is July 27–28, and it isn’t just another festival. It was born here over 100 years ago. To be that old, you know something good is happening there.
July 27: National Scotch Day
Cork & Cow has over 35 varieties of scotch to choose from, not to mention cocktail options.
July 28: National Milk Chocolate Day
Schakolad Chocolate Factory (pronounced shaq-oh-LAD) is one of the genuinely custom retail chocolate boutiques in the business. Their chocolates are”Made Fresh on Premises” using a tried and true three-generation European style family recipe that calls for the highest quality ingredients and attention to design detail.
Is there a better way to end than on National Milk Chocolate Day? I think not…
