Your Guide to Spirited Adventure in Franklin
It doesn’t get much better than sipping a fine wine, relaxing with a new brew, or scoring a perfectly aged whiskey straight from the distillery. Well, maybe it does…How about doing all three in the same day? Make a date with your favorite couples, besties or buddies – whatever works for you – and take a “spirited adventure” across Franklin and the unique communities of Williamson County. As you traverse the scenic byways of Franklin you’ll find yourself at distilleries full of as much history and stories as they are whiskey, and a vineyard where the wine is only thing to win more awards than it’s acclaimed musician owner!
Leiper’s Fork Distillery
Fresh off their grand opening, Leiper’s Fork Distillery will ‘wow’ you with their new digs. Start with a tour to see the distillation process from start to finish. You’ll get an up-close look at the beautiful copper still where “the magic happens.” After the tour head into the cabin for a tasting (good luck choosing a favorite) and then make your way to the front porch rocking chairs.
A picnic basket of goodies…check. Favorite blanket for picnicking…check. The best grassy spot at Arrington Vineyards…check. Life doesn’t get much better than that! Unless you pair it with live music and tastings of the best wines in Tennessee. Named ‘Winery of the Year’ for three straight years, Arrington Vineyards is an experience for anyone’s bucket list.
H. Clark Distillery
The first legal Williamson County distillery in over 100 years, the boom of distilling across Tennessee in the last decade can be traced back to H Clark Distillery owner Heath Clark. On top of a great story, a visit to H Clark is an up-close and personal look at the process of small batch distilling. After a tour, filled with unmatched aromas of the former grain barn, step up to the tasting bar for a sip of their Black & Tan or White Whiskey. Be sure to try their signature Gin too. It’s hand-crafted and known to convert even the most staunch gin naysayers.
Bonus Stop: After your visit to H Clark Distillery, stop in next door at Circa for a mixed drink (using H Clark products) crafted by the insanely talented mixologists. They really take the art form of the cocktail to new heights!
