Wild & Scenic Film Festival

6:30pm to 9:00pm

Harpeth Conservancy is hosting Wild & Scenic Film Festival for the second consecutive year on Thursday, April 25, 2019 at the historic Franklin Theater in downtown Franklin.

Wild & Scenic Film Festival On Tour, one of the largest environmental film festivals in North America. The Wild & Scenic Film Festival works with environmental groups across the globe to host the film festival to outreach into their communities and bring together a diverse audience. The goal is to use film to inspire activism and increase better community understanding of the connection we share with the planet and our role as stewards to keep it healthy for future generations.
The fifth Wild & Scenic Film Festival HOSTED features eight short films that are great examples of action being taken in other areas that are very similar to our work on the State Scenic Harpeth, such as nutrient pollution.  Other films focus on contaminated drinking water in Flint,  MI; keeping rivers Wild & Scenic and more.  We also love hosting this event in downtown Franklin, around which the Harpeth River flows.

In addition to nationally selected films, this event will showcase short films from students at Battle Ground Academy.  The films will highlight ways that the campus is working with Harpeth Conservancy to better the environment and campus, reduce waste and improve the health of the rivers.

The Wild & Scenic Film Festival is a great family event where people can learn more about how and why to protect your rivers and environments.  Soil kits, information on how to become a Citizen Scientist and more will also be available.  Door prizes from Nantahala Outdoor Center, Meridee’s Breadbasket and national partners will be given out at the end of the films.

Local sponsors of the event include:  Paddle Dog Adventures (who will be distributing promotional coupons for summer floats), Cumberland Kayak, Nantahala Outdoor Center, Rock City Construction, Village Real Estate, Puckett’s Boat House, Mississippi River Network and the Barbara J. Mapp Foundation.
