The Loveless Motel and Cafe first started serving its famous fried chicken and biscuits in 1951. Picnic tables were set up in the front yard where fried chicken and biscuits were sold from the front door to travelers on US Highway 100.
Soon the rooms of the early 1900′s home were converted into a dining room, and kitchen of the Loveless Cafe and the menu was expanded to include country hams. Lon Loveless ran the motel and handled the hams while customers were drawn to his wife Annie’s homemade preserves and from-scratch biscuits – one of a few secret recipes that have remained unchanged to this day.
Now expanded to include Loveless Motel and Cafe’s “Hams & Jams” shop, it is easy to take a little bit of Loveless home or to ship to a loved one halfway around the world.
Today, the Loveless Cafe serves over 400,000 guests a year and makes between 4,000 to 7,000 biscuits a day – still using that same original secret recipe from Annie Loveless.
Also part of the Loveless Cafe campus is the Loveless Barn, which is available for private events!
