Hatcher Family Dairy

Location: Arrington

Made world famous by The Hatcher Family Dairy television series on Disney Plus, The Hatcher Family’s delicious milk – particularly their chocolate milk – has been beloved here in Tennessee for decades. Believe it or not, six generations of Hatchers have operated the dairy farm in nearby College Grove since 1831! In 2007, the Hatchers decided to build their own creamery and bottling plant on the farm and start bottling their own milk. Today, you can buy that milk at their dairy store or in one of 80 shops and restaurants across the region.

Visit the store on the Hatcher Family Farm for milk, ice cream, eggs, butter, meat, or coffee drinks, or bring your own food and enjoy a meal at the farm’s picnic area. You can even opt for a longer stay by renting one of the farm’s two beautiful Airbnb rental properties for a restful few nights.

Take a peek at how the milk is made! In 2024, the dairy installed Middle Tennessee’s first robotic milkers, which you can view through a viewing area that features detailed information about the process. Then, take a walk through the “milk museum,” detailing the history of the Hatcher family and the College Grove area. Bring the kids to visit the loft area in the barn, where they can go through a play process of pretending to milk a cow, bottle the milk, and sell it at the farmers market. On your way up the stairs, you’ll get another view of the cows lining up to be milked by the electronic milkers.
