Williamson County Archives and Museum is excited to present Alexander von Humboldt: Aspects of Nature. This temporary exhibition from curator Michael Hein highlights the work of the influential German scientist Alexander von Humboldt. In 1799, the same year Williamson County, TN was founded, Humboldt began a research expedition across the Americas. He visited the United States in 1804, and exchanged ideas with Thomas Jefferson and other influential American leaders. This exhibition recognizes Humboldt’s international influence, and his impact on early American culture, as we head into the 250th anniversary celebration of the founding of the U.S. in 2026. This project is possible thanks to collaboration between Williamson County Government, the City of Franklin, Sister Cities of Franklin and Williamson County, and the town of Bad Soden am Taunus, Germany. The exhibition will run from October 6, 2023 through March 1, 2024.
