There’s nothing quite like autumn in Middle Tennessee. Known for its abundance of foliage and southern charm, Williamson County in particular provides an enchanting backdrop to witness autumn’s anticipated arrival. The air is crisped to perfection, the leaves painted in their amber hues, and the small towns decorated to harvest-themed excellence.

Finding the perfect fall to-do list can be a daunting task, so we did the work for you! Here are some of our favorite events and activities to make the most of the season.

It’s open every weekend from September 28th-October 28th this year, and it takes less than 10 minutes to get there from the heart of Franklin!

The Natchez Trace Parkway

This time of year is when we really shine, as our beautiful hardwood trees begin exploding with shades of gold, orange, and red. And when Nashvillians want to be right in the middle of it all, they hop on the Natchez Trace Parkway. This road stretches 444 miles across Tennessee and Mississippi and is home to the breathtaking Double Arch Bridge, which is the perfect place to take in the majesty of autumn in Middle Tennessee. Keep driving down the parkway as long as you’d like to catch some beautiful overlooks and waterfalls. We highly recommend stopping by Timberland Park on your journey for a variety of beautiful hikes to top off your perfect nature-filled afternoon.

Franklin Ghost Tours

For spooky season lovers, a ghost tour is the perfect way to capture the spirit of the season. Franklin Walking Tours has three different chilling ghost tours to try. Grim and Ghostly is their most popular tour, taking you on a path through the historic district highlighting the most haunted buildings in the city with a guide detailing mischievous crimes and dark local legends guaranteed to make your hairs stand on end. Their Tombstone Tales tour is a particularly unique one-night event involving costumed actors telling the tales of the people buried in Franklin’s historic cemeteries in true theatrical fashion. Farmers Markets

Fall is for farmers markets, and our little corner of town has a couple of fantastic options to choose from! The Factory at Franklin is the home of Franklin’s local farmers market and is open every Saturday morning from 8am-1pm, and Nolensville’s farmers market can be found at the Historic Nolensville School on Saturday mornings from 8am-12pm. Both of these markets provide the area’s best local produce, fall flowers, crafts and jewelry, and local meat and seafood, and a trip to either will start your weekend off in the best way we know how.

Now get on out there and have an autumn to remember. Don’t forget to follow and tag us on social media @visitfranklin and #visitfranklintn to stay up to date on even more events happening in the area this season!
