Jolene’s what you call a unicorn, as authentically Nashville as you can get.
As her name suggests, Jolene comes from a rich musical background growing up in Franklin, Tennessee. Her dad, celebrated sound engineer and songwriter Donivan Cowart, was working with Dolly when she was born. A studio mouse from the time she was born, she soaked in the influences of Johnny, Emmylou, and Willie. She listened to Rodney Crowell and Roseanne Cash records being mixed and vocals layered with Lee Ann Womack. And it all made a lifelong lasting impression on her and taught her the power of sharing our stories through music. And as she grew up and started collecting records by Sheryl Crow, the Chicks, and Reba, her own unique blend of roots Americana, 90s vibes became her signature sound and a storied life, her coal mine.
