Pet-Friendly Places You Need to Know in Franklin

During a recent girl’s night with my best friend, the following statement was uttered: “I hope I love my future children as much as I love my dog.” Verbatim.

Let’s face it, the majority of people no longer look at pets as just pets, they are family, or as I so lovingly call my dog, my fur baby. More and more people are bringing their pets along on vacation, to work, even to the grocery store. The problem though is knowing in advance what places are pet-friendly versus those places where Fido isn’t welcome. Well, I have good news.

Franklin, Tennessee is the pilot city for a program through Mars Petcare called Better Cities for Pets. This initiative is helping local businesses in downtown Franklin and the surrounding areas become even more pet-friendly through education and necessary tools like dog bowls and waste stations.

McDoogal (my West Highland White Terrier) and I have put together a quick list of pet-friendly places in Franklin that we love to frequent together now that we know we are both welcome! Who could say no to this face?

Gallery 202

Lucky for us pet owners, Gallery 202 has always been pet-friendly, and thanks to Better Cities for Pets, it’s official! Gallery 202 is calm, cool, peaceful, and a perfect cultural experience for you and your pup. You may even find gallery owner, Kelly Harwood, putting the finishing touches on one of his masterpieces!

Finnley’s Good Findings

There have been so many times I’ve taken Doogie window shopping and spotted that must-have romper, but had to pass because he wasn’t welcome inside.

Well, thanks to Finnley’s Good Findings choice to become pet-friendly my closet abounds with cute summer rompers, dresses, and accessories that Doogie helped me pick and choose!

Visitor Center

Over the last few years, we’ve seen an increase in pet owners bringing their pets along on the family vacay.

The friendly folks at Visit Franklin understand this and welcome all pets and humans inside this awesome Visitor Center located in the heart of historic downtown Franklin. They’ve got two dog bowls filled with ice-cold water and a waste station for…ehem…back-end production.

Dog Park at Harlinsdale Farm

A great place for man’s best friend to stretch his legs is at the aptly named K-9 Korral dog park at Harlinsdale Farm. This dog park is huge with four acres for Fido to explore!

Walton’s Antique Jewelry

At Walton’s Antique Jewelry, diamonds AND dogs are a girl’s best friend! Just ask owner Julie Walton. A fellow dog lover and fur mom herself, she will help you find the perfect heirloom piece for you and your furry friend.

McCreary’s Patio

I love me a good patio and you can’t beat McCreary’s. Relax with a cold one as you people-watch under a shady tree. The perfect spot for you and your pet on a hot day.

Tin Cottage

Hands down one of THE cutest shops in downtown Franklin. Step into the Tin Cottage and you’ll feel like you just stepped into your Grandma’s home.

There is a warm welcome awaiting you and your pet just beyond the white picket fence and lazy front porch.

Aloft

Among Franklin’s array of hotels, Aloft understands how important it is to make sure you and your pet can kick back and relax after a long day of exploring. Committed to being pet-friendly, you and your pet are always welcome at this chic hotel with modern digs.

This list is sure to please even the most discerning pet. After all, it is Doogie tested and approved
