White Building (Starbucks)
If you ask people why this building is called the White Building, they’ll probably tell you because it’s white. That’s not the reason. Dr. John White who used it as his office built the building in 1923. It was his third building and as you meander down Main Street look carefully and you will find the other two. Today the building houses businesses and offices, which run on electricity produced by 64 solar panels on the roof. If you drink a cup of Starbucks coffee, it could be made using solar energy. Also on the roof is a large sign that used to stand on the roof of a Nashville hotel, since long gone. During the Christmas season, the sign is raised. The name of the former hotel (and sign): NOEL.
