We hate to admit it, but it’s cold! When the temperatures dip, I want nothing more than to stay indoors and binge watch whatever’s hot on Netflix.
Instead of binging The Great British Baking Show in your hotel room (I’ll admit I’m guilty of this), here are nine things to do indoors in and around Franklin, Tennessee!

1. Take a House Tour
While homes during the Civil War may not have been heated at the time, Carnton, Carter House, and Lotz House all boast a great story and a great heating system.
Even when the temperature dip below freezing, you can learn something new at one of our Civil War Houses here in Franklin, Tennessee.
2. Paint Pottery at Third Coast Clay
When it’s cold out, I get the itch to do something fun and creative and feel (at least a little) productive! Head over to Third Coast Clay for an afternoon of painting pottery in their cozy studio. Grab a coffee from Honest Coffee Roasters, a donut from Five Daughters Bakery, and nestle in for an afternoon of creativity!
3. Drink a Guinness at McCreary’s Irish Pub
There’s nothing cozier than an Irish Pub – at least I think so! Pull up a seat at McCreary’s Irish Pub, order a Guinness, and get to know some of the locals who spend their time at this iconic pub in downtown Franklin, Tennessee.
4. Flip Through Records at Luna Record Shop
There’s something warm about listening to vinyl. On a snowy day, I love nothing more than curling up with a cup of coffee and listening to records, both new and old.
Find your new favorite record at Luna Record Shop and spend some time indoors, flipping through their vintage finds and new releases.
5. See a Movie at the Franklin Theatre
From new releases to tried-and-true classics, The Franklin Theatre always has a great film on the big screen! Duck in for an hour or two to get out of the cold, watch a movie, and eat some popcorn.
6. Get Lost in a Book at Landmark Booksellers
Maybe when it’s cold outside, you like to escape to a far off (warmer) destination. Well, lucky for you, Landmark Booksellers has tons of stories that will let you escape!
Browse the seemingly endless supply of books and find your next favorite winter read.
7. Go Rock Climbing at The Crag
Don’t let the cold weather keep you from being active! Head over to The Crag at Cool Springs to get physical and be adventurous! The Crag has excellent deals on day passes and offers instruction for first-time climbers! Kids are welcome, making this a great activity for the entire family!
8. Try to Escape at Extreme Escape Games
Get your adrenaline going on a cold day with a trip to Extreme Escape Games! These mind-bending escape rooms will keep you on your toes and make you completely forget about the cold weather outside!
9. Shop ‘Til You Drop at CoolSprings Galleria
Money can’t buy warm weather, but it can buy you a day of shopping bliss at CoolSprings Galleria, and to me, that’s pretty much the same thing.
We hope you stay warm on these cold days! Let us know how you’re spending your winter days in the comments below.
