If you’re thinking about just day-tripping to Franklin, think again. After wandering around Main Street shopping the day away, strolling in and out of coffee shops and bakeries, and eating until your heart’s content, we guarantee you’ll wish you were staying a while. Good news, Franklin has plenty of lodging options to help convince you, and we’re rounding up the most charming stays in town.
The Harpeth Hotel
If downtown vibes are what you’re after, there’s only one option within walking distance of Main Street, and lucky for us all, it’s a perfect place to stay. The Harpeth Hotel, nestled under the Hilton brand, is a swanky retreat with an onsite coffee shop, an excellent signature restaurant, and a full bar (with an impressive whiskey collection). Needless to say, you won’t go hungry here.
In addition to the food and beverage options, the rooms skew luxury, complete with plush bedding, robes, and slippers. Suites even have a soaking tub built for a tranquil steam after a charming day.
Southall Farm & Inn
Just a few miles outside of Downtown Franklin sits the even more historic town of Leiper’s Fork. A bucolic hidden gem with plenty of stories to tell, a portion of farmland was recently transformed into a sprawling luxury estate that’s quickly become a retreat for locals and visitors near and far. Southall’s rustic opulence greets you from the moment you enter the grand lobby trimmed with worn wood, and continues as you make your way through the onsite signature restaurants toward the guest rooms.
The rooms themselves are tough to leave, complete with standalone tubs, fireplaces, and thoughtful decor. But, don’t make the mistake of not venturing out for a hike around the property or relaxing pond-side. If you’re traveling with a group or for an extra special occasion, private cabins are also available.
The food here is next-level, led by executive chef Andrew Klamar. Beginning with a farm-fresh breakfast at Sojourner and ending with a coursed fine dining extravaganza at January, each bite is guaranteed to make you want to return time and again.
The Manor at Dark Horse Estate
If these walls could talk, they’d produce a No. 1. The tucked-away mansion affectionately known as The Manor at Dark Horse Estate measures 14,000 square feet. And while everything from the foyer to the 34-foot fireplace will impress you, what goes on here will make you feel even more special.
Before it was opened to the public, the Manor and its seven bedrooms, 10 bathrooms, three kitchens, billiard room, two-story library, and party barn played host to recording artists in town to lay down their next big hit. Also onsite sits a timber structure with recording studios inside that have been used by names like Taylor Swift, Shawn Mendes, Tim McGraw, Neil Diamond, Matchbox Twenty, and the list goes on. Now reservable on Airbnb, the Manor is a private retreat guaranteed to offer a memorable stay.
