Bowie Park & Nature Center

Location:

With more than 700 acres of forest, lakes, and trails, Bowie Nature Park in Fairview is one of Middle Tennessee’s most scenic spots for a hike. Set out on one of the 17 miles of trails here and you’ll encounter several different eco-systems along your journey, including wetlands, grasslands, pine forest, oak and hickory forest, and lowland bottom wetlands. Since the trails are mostly flat, they’re perfect for casual walkers, runners, and families with children of any age.

Beyond the trails, a large playground and interactive Nature Center add to the kids’ enjoyment, and free bikes are available for check-out at the Nature Center for those who prefer to explore the grounds on two wheels. Meanwhile, Bowie’s horse trails attract equestrians from across the region while fishing enthusiasts like to try their luck alongside one of Bowie Nature Park’s sizable lakes. Many local families simply enjoy bringing a picnic lunch and enjoying the park’s beautiful natural surroundings.

You’ll find Bowie Park on Highway 100, about a mile west of the Highway 96/100 exchange in Williamson County. Be sure and check out the kiosk located in front of the restrooms for seasonal hiking guides, wildflower, and wildlife information.
