Visitors can explore the sites of one of the war’s most pivotal battles, stand on preserved ground that was nearly lost, and discover how Franklin has become a national model for battlefield reclamation and historical storytelling.
At the same time, July in Franklin brings all the charm and nostalgia people dream about for the Fourth of July. Downtown parades, century-old architecture, brick-lined sidewalks draped in American flags, and that small-town warmth set the scene for a picture-perfect Independence Day.
During this milestone anniversary, Franklin offers a living celebration of American history, a place where the nation’s past is honored, the present is celebrated, and the spirit of independence comes alive!
Franklin on the Fourth
Franklin’s annual Fourth of July celebration returns to downtown Franklin’s Public Square with live music, kids’ activities, food vendors, artisan booths, and the beloved patriotic pet parade. The event caps off with fireworks at The Park at Harlinsdale Farm after sunset.


Williamson County Archives: Special 250th Anniversary Exhibit
A limited-time exhibit highlighting Williamson County’s role in the broader American story, featuring rare documents, early maps, and archival artifacts pulled specifically for the semiquincentennial.
New Benjamin Franklin Statue
Unveiled this year, a bronze statue honoring Franklin’s namesake, Benjamin Franklin, now sits outside the Williamson County Archives & Museum. Ben on the Bench was created by renowned sculptor George Lundeen. The seated figure invites visitors to pause, sit, and reflect with the founding father.


“All Men Are Created Equal” Tour
A thematic tour by the Battle of Franklin Trust exploring the Declaration of Independence ideals through the lens of Franklin’s Civil War history, with a focus on freedom, citizenship, and the changing landscape of the American South.
