WCCVB ADDS MAXEY AS PUBLIC RELATIONS COORDINATOR

FRANKLIN, Tenn. – The Williamson County Convention and Visitors Bureau (WCCVB) has added Matthew Maxey to its staff in the newly created position of Public Relations Coordinator. Maxey will oversee efforts by the WCCVB to create, manage and implement public relations campaigns that will create interest in Visit Franklin as a travel destination of choice across the country.

“It’s exciting to watch the destination and the Visit Franklin brand grow and mature especially over the past few years. Williamson County ranks number six in the state for tourism-related spending and we’re very proud of that,” said Kellye Murphy, Senior Marketing Director for the WCCVB. “This is the ideal time to concentrate our efforts on media outreach and exposure. They are already talking about us, but we know there’s a tremendous opportunity for even greater media coverage. Bringing Matt on board, with his incredible talents, takes us to that next level in gaining maximum exposure for Williamson County.”

Maxey, a graduate of The University of Tennessee at Martin, joins the WCCVB having spent the last five years as a successful independent public relations consultant, working with clients in the political, non-profit and commercial fields, while also serving as a contributing writer and directing the online growth of the popular magazine Sports & Entertainment Nashville.

Before venturing out on his own, Maxey began his career as the Assistant Sports Information Director at UT Martin, coordinating media relations for the university’s athletic teams and directing national public relations efforts. He has also served as campaign manager, political director or lead consultant on six political campaigns across Tennessee at the local, state and federal level.

“I have spent my career putting together public relations efforts to tell compelling stories in compelling ways, and Franklin and all the communities that make up Williamson County have a tremendous story to be told,” said Maxey. “I look forward to working with the incredible staff at the WCCVB to help Franklin be recognized as one of the top travel destinations in the country.”
