Family and friends, I would like to invite you to a special event in Franklin, TN next Thursday evening, December 11th. That night, at Mockingbird Theater & Bar, I will be presenting a performance of the songs of Sir Elton John. This will be my first time playing this catalog in public, and I wanted to approach it a personal way. This show is inspired by the tours Elton took out over the years with the great British percussionist, Ray Cooper. This strips the songs down to voice / piano and drums, highlighting Elton’s haunting melodies and chord structures and the incisive lyrics of the master, Bernie Taupin. Working up this music is an exquisite challenge that never fails to surprise in the moment.
These tunes live and breathe in real time in their own special way. Joining me on stage will be someone who has been one of the main heartbeats behind virtually every performance l’ve done on stage for the last eight years, the multi-instrumentalist Ryan McClanahan from End of the Line : A Tribute to The Allman Brothers Band. Come join us for a journey through the hits and essential deep tracks from Elton and Bernie’s long career.
