Southall Farm & Inn has drawn visitors in droves since doors opened in late 2022, thanks to its breathtaking scenery of rolling hills and lush gardens, luxury accommodations, and noteworthy amenities—among them, a world-class spa, intimate farm-to-table dining, and a bevy of on-site experiences (falconry, anyone?).

In years past, most experiences have been limited to resort guests only, but as a lifelong local, I’m thrilled to see reservations now bookable for those of us who don’t necessarily need a place to sleep. So whether you’re a resident like me or maybe just passing through, we’ve rounded up a collection of ways both resort guests and community members can enjoy all that Southall has to offer.

Dine at Sojourner & January

Southall’s dining outlets are both incredible, offering slightly different experiences that come along with access to the property. Sojourner, Southall’s all-day café, serves breakfast (farm-fresh eggs, omelets, and fresh smoothies), lunch (salads and mains), and dinner (fish, steaks, and cocktails). The menu pulls from the seasonal harvest and preserved ingredients.

Next door at January, Southall’s signature restaurant, enjoy sweeping views of the property, sommelier-selected wines, and entrées ranging from short rib to rib-eyes. Pay special attention to events taking place here, including a fall tea service, a spring weekend brunch, and The Rambling, an outdoor family-style event with drinks and a menu of January’s best bites.

Several educational opportunities are available to book at Southall, perfect for a date night or an outing with friends. Try Food Fables, a dive into the journey of a vegetable from seed to dish led by a farmer, a jammery chef, and a sommelier. Or, get hands-on with nature during a honey extraction class that starts with gathering honey and learning about the process and ends with a tasting experience that pairs honey with tequila.

Here, find a collection of Southall’s harvest, specialty products like honey and jams, and goods like pressed juices and ice creams. Seek Out Dottie’s

If you look closely, you’ll see a home perched atop the Southall property that looks like your typical family residence. But once inside, you won’t see kitchenware and school backpacks; instead, you’ll find a swanky speakeasy dripping in moody touches like leather seating, antiques, and framed artwork covering the walls. When the green porch light is illuminated, resort guests are invited to join for a craft cocktail and good conversation, but locals can get in on the action for a $25 ticket.
