Has your home become your permanent office? Mine too. At first, I loved it. No commute, mid-day laundry, PJs all day. But now a few years removed from the office setting, I find myself missing my morning radio show, the laundry buzzer is distracting, and I’m actually eager to put on a nice “work outfit” some mornings (emphasis on some).

For those days when you need to unplug from the home office, there are plenty of spots around town perfect for working from “roam,” and we’ve rounded up the best below. I’ll see you there!

Honest Coffee Roasters – Berry Farms

The adorable Honest Coffee Roasters in Berry Farms is a comfortable oasis to plug in thanks to its calming decor, comfortable seating, and its menu packed with everything you need for a productive day. Grab a coffee and an açai bowl, or opt for a CBD latte for a dose of calm on a crazy day.

Mama’s Java

Nolensville’s Mama’s Java is a spacious option with mismatched rustic furniture and a menu packed with homestyle breakfast items. From experience, their light roast and a sausage biscuit have magic powers to propel you through even the most daunting work days.

The Sapphire Suite

Women only! If a dedicated coworking space is more what you’re looking for, check out the Sapphire Suite, a new option located off Carothers. While conference rooms and desks are available, this beautiful space has a variety of plush couches and chairs and a stocked kitchen, so it’s like working from home but so much better! Plus, membership comes with printing, shredding, and other office tasks, so plan accordingly.

E|Spaces

Another great coworking option is E|Spaces, with two locations throughout town. Book a membership or grab a day pass to get some work done, hold a meeting or take a call at either the Cool Springs or downtown Franklin outposts. Members get 24/7 access and amenities like a notary service, an IT helpdesk, and a business address.

The Lodge Franklin

A coworking space that epitomizes ranch life, the Lodge near Highway 96 is a great spot to work, meet, or even host events. Relax on one of the cowhide chairs or network with other remote workers at one of the rustic conference tables. Are you in Franklin, or did you enter the world of Yellowstone? By the end of a long workday, you may find yourself wondering.

Just Love Coffee – McEwen

The vibrant new McEwen Northside complex has a spot for everyone at all times of day – starting with Just Love for a morning brew. On nice days, enjoy some fresh air as the anterior doors open to let the outside in. While suitable for a solo work day, Just Love is also a great place for business meetings or catching up with friends over breakfast. (Check out the Brentwood and Nolensville locations, too!)

The Coffee House at Second and Bridge

If you find yourself walking into a historic home-turned-coffee shop on the corner of Second Avenue and Bridge Street on any given day, you’ll probably see me typing away on the porch or snuggled in the corner of one of the many rooms. The coffee and food are excellent at The Coffee House, but the space itself really transports you to a simpler (and more productive!) time. See you there!

The Harpeth Hotel Lobby & McGavock’s Coffee Shop

You don’t have to be a guest to enjoy the gorgeous public spaces at the The Harpeth Hotel in downtown Franklin. While the adjoining McGavock’s Coffee Shop is a delightful spot to work or meet, the hotel lobby, library, or courtyard may provide a quieter spot to knock out a project or take a call. Plus, when the clock strikes five o’clock (somewhere), the bar at 1799 Kitchen & Cocktails is just a slam of the laptop and a few steps away.

Frothy Monkey

With two stories, a wraparound porch, and multiple rooms of seating and space, Frothy Monkey in Downtown Franklin has a spot for everyone. While a great option at any time, Frothy Monkey is my go-to spot when I need to burn the midnight oil (or the 8 p.m. oil. It’s Franklin, people.). Grabbing an evening cup of caffeine or even a glass of wine is a great way to keep the creative juices flowing when that 9 to 5 feels more like 5 to 9.

Curio Brewing Company

Brewing, in this case, has a dual meaning. Start your day with a coffee and end with a cold beer at Curio Brewing Company near Columbia Avenue. Put your multitasking skills to the test and knock out everything on your task list, drink (of choice) in hand.

The Factory at Franklin

What operates more efficiently than a factory? Channel the energy of the 1930s (and beyond) inside the expansive space, where you’ll find Honest Coffee RoastersFive Daughters BakeryJeni’s Ice Cream, and more to make your work day extra caffeinated and sweet.
