FRANKLIN, Tenn. – Celebrate the National Park Service’s Centennial, Thursday, August 25, with the Williamson County Convention & Visitors Bureau at the Visitor Center located at Fourth and Main in downtown Franklin. To honor 100 years of the National Park System, the WCCVB is giving away 100 free cake pops from SeaSide Cake Pops and encouraging people to get out and enjoy Williamson County’s local National Park, the Natchez Trace Parkway.
Part of the greater national National Parks celebration, all are encouraged to post pictures of how they are celebrating the National Parks Centennial along the Natchez Trace on social media with the hashtags #FindYourPark and #FranklinTN.
“We are privileged to have a National Park run through Williamson County, which attracts thousands of visitors each year,” said WCCVB President and CEO Ellie Westman Chin. “The Natchez Trace Parkway, the double arch bridge and the hiking trails off The Trace provide some truly stunning views of Williamson County.”
The eighth most visited National Park in the United States, the 444-mile Natchez Trace Parkway that extends from Nashville, Tenn., to Natchez, Miss., provides one of the most scenic drives in the country while allowing travelers to experience many of the same spectacular views as the country’s ancient settlers.
Locally the Natchez Trace also includes numerous hiking trails, parks such as Timberland Park and architectural wonders like the double arch bridge that spans Hwy 96 and was the first segmentally constructed bridge in the United States.
Westman Chin added, “ We hope residents and visitors alike will join us in celebrating the Centennial, then help kick off the next 100 years by taking a drive down the The Trace, enjoying the hiking trails or simply taking the time to relax and spend an afternoon in Timberland Park.”
